    The deadline for local scholarships will be Noon on Tuesday March 21, 2017.

    Big Brothers Big Sisters is pleased to announce three scholarship opportunities for current/past Littles and High School Bigs.   

    Federated Challenge Scholarship:  A scholarship for up to $5,000 for students to attend a non-four year education or training program at an accredited Minnesota post-secondary school that focuses on obtaining an apprenticeship, certificate or associate’s degree.  Deadline to apply is May 1st.

    WWBD Memorial Scholarship: $500 scholarship to a college of their choice.  This scholarship was created in honor of BriAnna Kruzel (a former Little Sister and High School Big Sister), who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in September 2013.  Deadline to apply is April 1st.

    AUTOACCESSORIESGARAGE.COM $1000 College Scholarship

     

    Word on the street is that the whole "college" thing is an expensive endeavor, and AutoAccessoriesGarage.com wants to help out.  As a result, AAG is proud to announce the first $1000 Scholarship Contest. 

    Entering the AutoAccessoriesGarage.com College & Automotive Trade School Scholarship Contest is easy.  Simply answer the questions at http://www.autoaccessoriesgarage.com/college-scholarship

     

    Eligibility:  Eligibility for the contest is pretty simple.  You have to be heading to college, or an automotive trade/vocational school in 2017 or be a current freshman or sophmore.  Oh, and you can't be related to any AAG employee.

    These scholarships are available specifically for Native American high school students entering college in 2015-2016. Students should be encouraged to apply to ALL other sources of financial aid for which they are eligible.

    Common Documentation Needed:

    CDIB: Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (a.k.a. CIB, enrollment letter, letter of descent) is a document from the tribe showing the fraction of tribal blood for that member or descendant.

    Proof of Tribal Enrollment: Letter from the tribe with the tribal enrollment number on it. The letter may also include the degree of blood.

    Proof of Lineage: In lieu of enrollment, some scholarships will accept 1st or 2nd descendants or lineal descendants. Students will need to prove lineage with birth certificates showing their relationship to the family member who is enrolled, as well as the enrolled member's enrollment number. A CDIB may also be acceptable in some cases. 
        The Annexstad Family Foundation Scholarship

    This four-year, renewable scholarship provides support for deserving young men and women who have matured as "Littles" through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program (in the School-Based, Site-Based or Community-Based programs). By combining resources from the Annexstad Family Foundation and the specific college or university, the program's goal is to assure funds for tuition, fees, room, board, and books.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • matched as a "little" through the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for at least 18 months and be formally recommended by a participating BBBS agency.
    • accepted at a participating four year college or university
    • demonstrate significant financial need.

    • If the applicant is a first time user of the Central Minnesota Community Foundation's online scholarship system, they will be required to "create a new account". Once an account has been established the system will remember the log in information and will automatically be linked to any other online scholarship applications submitted through the Community Foundation's online system.

    CommunityGiving/Central MN Community Foundation is accepting applications for 17 Scholarship Funds.   These 17 funds award more than 60 Scholarships totaling over $100,000 in scholarship aid.

    iHELP Scholarships

    Reunion Student Loan Finance Corporation (RSLFC) and iHELP Student Loans are once again offering random draw scholarships to Minnesota high school seniors. We will be awarding five $1,000 scholarships to Minnesota high school seniors that are attending a college, university or technical institute in the 2017-2018 academic year.  These scholarships are good for any school in any state!  Every scholarship application will be automatically entered into a drawing for a free iPad.

    The applicants are responsible for submitting scholarships to RSLFC.  The scholarship winners will be chosen at random.  The criterion to qualify for the $1,000 scholarship is that the applicant must be: 1) a high school senior for the 2016/2017 academic year, 2) scholarship will be applied to 2017/2018 academic year cost of education and 3) not on academic probation.  

    If the student would like to complete a paper application, request one from us by emailing loans@slfc.com.  Submit it to iHELP Scholarship, Reunion Student Loan Finance Corporation, 124 South First Street, Aberdeen, SD  57401-4107. Postmark deadline is March 31, 2017

    Sports Unlimited Scholarship

    We award a $1,000 scholarship annually to some of the most inspiring students in the country.

    Sports Unlimited is dedicated to reaching further than the field, court, or diamond that you play on. We believe in fostering development and empowering ourselves and others through higher education because it takes as much courage to succeed in the classroom as it does on the field. Once every year, we offer a $1,000 college scholarship to the athlete who inspires us most through his or her essay. You might even be featured in our blog!     1.  The first scholarship is "Aspiring Fashion ProfessionalScholarship. This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.  Interested students can visit this link www.fashion-schools.org and find the scholarship located at the bottom of the page and click on it.

    2.  The 2nd Scholarship is the "Aspiring Animation ProfessionalScholarship Program. This is the 5th year we are awarding this scholarship for AnimationCareerReview.com. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship.  This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. The scholarship will be on the right side of the page and click on it.
     
    3.  The 3rd scholarship was started late last year and is being offered again this year.  "Aspiring Business Professional" Scholarship.
