ISD 728 School Board candidate Shari Knip officially notified District officials on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 of her decision to withdraw from the school board election recount process. This was following the first day of the recount involving the counting of ballots in Sherburne County precincts. As a result, candidate Shane Steinbrecher will return to the School Board after winning the third seat.

In accordance with Minnesota Statutes Section 204C.36, ISD 728 has received a recount request from School Board candidate Shari Knip. As required by law, the recount will be conducted at no cost to the candidate and will be funded by ISD 728.

The ISD 728 School Board voted unanimously to select Andrew Almos as the district’s next superintendent at a special board meeting held Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the ISD 728 District Office in Elk River.
