The ISD 728 American Indian Education Program (AIEP) creates a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous students, families and faculty. The AIEP is a unique program that follows students through their K-12 schooling, instilling our Indigenous values and living our traditions. We welcome all Native American students into our program, regardless of Tribal affiliation, blood quantum, or country of origin.
Increase the graduation rate of American Indian/ Alaskan Native Students
Expand district-wide understanding and representation of American Indian/ Alaskan Native students' cultures, languages, heritage, and curriculum.
Our services include:
Academic advising (K-12)
Scholarship, college, vocational or workforce advisement and assistance (7-12)
Monitoring student's school programs to provide assistance (K-12)
Enrichment opportunities such as tribal history, storytelling, pow-wows, etc.
Field trips: Sugar Bush, Northwest Fur Trade Post, Mille Lacs Indian Museum, Fort Snelling, and more
College visits including; the University of Minnesota, Morris, and St. Cloud State University
Traditional graduation honoring ceremony
Cultural activities and lessons
Ojibwe & Dakota language programs
Parent Advisory Committee/ Monthly Newsletter
