What is the ACT Test?
The ACT is a national college admissions examination that consists of the subject areas listed here. The purpose of the exam is to help determine whether a student gets accepted into a particular college. A student's High School GPA and ACT score are the 2 main factors that a college will look at to determine eligibility.
English Mathematics Reading Science
The ACT Plus Writing includes the four subject area tests plus a 30-minute Writing Test.
ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S.
The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.
The ACT is administered at various local testing centers on Saturdays, with six scheduled test dates that include the months of September, October, December, February, April, and June.
Make sure to register for the test in a timely way to avoid having to pay a late fee. After you register you will also have to upload a photo into your ACT Web Account. The easiest way to do this is by uploading the photo from your Parent Portal account.
ACT Test Prep
Through the guidance office we have multiple ACT practice tests available. Ask Mr. Stoermann if you would like a copy. As we get closer to the April ACT test date for all juniors, many of our teachers will also be doing ACT prep in their classrooms with their students.
There are good ACT Prep Resources in your MCIS account. Login to your MCIS account through Rapid Identity, then scroll over "My Portfolio" and click the link under "Test Prep." There you will find access to multiple ACT practice tests. You will be given feedback on the questions you answer wrong and it explains to you why they were wrong. You also can take a full ACT online course.
