Message From The Principal
I love fall! The leaves are changing and the air is crisp. The students have grown so very much in the short four weeks they have been at Zimmerman Elementary School. It is a true joy to see and support them in this growth. Thank you for sharing your child/children with us each day - together, we are the team that makes ZES a great place to learn!
It is my pleasure to share our new Newsletter format with all families at ZES. The goal of the ZES newsletter is to share important school information with you in an easily accessible format. Please continue to reference SeeSaw for your child/s classroom news and information.
Fire Prevention Education
All students will experience Fire Safety with the Zimmerman Fire Department the week of October 12th, at Zimmerman Elementary School.
Take advantage of your student's heightened sense of safety awareness by making a fire exit plan at home. Click HERE for basic fire escape planning, sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association.
Building Zebra Pride!
Show your Zebra Pride every Wednesday by wearing your favorite Zebra Pride T Shirt! This can be one of the shirts purchased at ZES or a shirt with Zebra print or pictures - join the fun!
If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, you can either order online via RevTrak or complete the order form (linked below).
Watch D.O.G.S. Kick Off
On Monday, October 8th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm we will be having our WATCH D.O.G.S.® Kick-off. You will meet in the Media Center at Zimmerman Elementary at 6:00 pm for a short presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program. After the presentation, Dads and kids can enjoy ice cream and use the playground.
WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers. . . this is your chance to have a night out with your student at school and enjoy a treat together after the program.
In order to participate, you need to do two things:
- Fill out the bottom portion of this slip (linked below), and have your student return to his or her classroom teacher by Wednesday October 3rd.
- Mark your calendars, and we’ll see you Monday, October, 8th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. We will have orders forms available to purchase Official WATCH D.O.G.S.® Uniform T-shirts and ‘My Hero’ T-shirts for students will be available.

Illnesses and Communicable Diseases
Is my child well enough to go to school? Many students and parents are frequently concerned about when students should stay home or attend school. You can expect your child to be ill 5-7 days during a school year. Remember that a child ill with an infectious disease can spread the disease when in contact with others in the family and the community.
Health Services will monitor the number of communicable diseases reported to them and notify parents via school newsletter or Campus Messenger, if a high percentage (>10 %) of children in a classroom or grade level have a particular communicable disease (ex. Strep throat, head lice, etc.).
Information regarding guidelines and exclusion recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) can be found on the Health Services Web Page or at the following link: Illnesses and Communicable Diseases
