  • Happy Belated Halloween and Welcome to November!

Posted by Nicole Rasmussen on 11/1/2019 12:00:00 PM

    Greetings EdVenture Club Staff!

My apologies that I have not posted an update for a couple of weeks.  Hopefully this weekly brief will catch everyone up on everything that has been happening as of late.  Hope you all had a great Halloween and aren't too tired today!

    1) Thank you to all of you for stepping up and picking up extra shifts as needed.  We understand that this can be difficult but we want you to know how much we GREATLY appreciate your efforts!!!  We are continuing to work on hiring initiatives and we always welcome your ideas for advertising our positions.  Please continue to share the Facebook post as well as the link to the posting:  http://www.isd728.org/JoinOurTeam and search under Community Education.

    2)  Weather and Health:  The weather is getting colder as we march toward winter.  Please continue to insure that our kiddos are dressed appropriately when sending them outside.  And please be sure that you are all dressed appropriately as well!  Please continue to wash hands, remind everyone to do the vampire cough, and do what you can to avoid the spread of germs.  We've had a lot of sick kiddos and staff lately and we want to do the best we can to avoid that going forward!

    3)  Upcoming Non School Days:  Please note that there is no school on Friday, November 22nd and the week of Thanksgiving.  We will be open for care on Non-School Days except for Thanksgiving and the day after.

    4)  Staff Appreciation:  You will start to notice some new things coming around in the coming weeks!  We will be highlight staff each week in our Weekly Newsletter.  The first few weeks will be an opportunity to meet staff across the program and then we will be nominating a Staff of the Week after that.  We are excited for the opportunity to recognize all of the good work that you do!

Thanks for all that you do!

  • 10/11/19 Weekly Update

Posted by Nicole Rasmussen on 10/11/2019 12:00:00 PM

    Greetings EdVenture Club Staff!

We hope that you are all having a good fall and enjoying our crazy Minnesota weather.  With the crazy weather changes, it is important that you all dress appropriately and get lots of rest so that we are all staying healthy as we move through fall and flu season.

Please read below for important updates:

1)MEA is upon us and the liaisons are working on getting schedules set.  All appointed employees are expected to work your scheduled/appointed hours on those days or take PTO for the time that you do not plan to work.  If you have any questions about this, please see your liaison.

    2) DHS letters:  We have had a delay in the letters being sent out to employees.  The letters are now available and will be distributed to you on Monday, October 14th.  You will also see an electronic version of the letter.  Please read and review the letter carefully so that you are aware of the information about the DHS background study and the process that HR will be going through to help everyone through the new system.  We appreciate your patience and diligence in getting these taken care of ASAP.

    3)  ALiCE Training:  If you have not completed the ALiCE training and have not received the link to complete it, please plan to complete the training ASAP or let your site lead and liaison know so that you need the link so that you can complete it.  This is a requirement as a district employee and for DHS training requirements.

    4)  Staffing:  Please continue to refer your friends to the job posting as we are still hiring and will continue to for quite some time across all sites.  Here is the link:  http://www.isd728.org/JoinOurTeam and look under Community Education.  Please feel free to share this with anyone you know.  You can also share it on Social media if you are willing.  We appreciate your help with this recruiting effort.

    5)  Recruiting Committee:  Due to the continued staffing shortage, we are exploring new ways to get the word out about our openings.  Nicole will be leading a new Recruiting Committee team to tackle this.  We are looking for one ore two site leads and one or two child care workers that would be interested in participating.  If you are interested, please contact Nicole Rasmussen:  nicole.rasmussen@isd728.org.  I plan to get the committee going soon!

Lastly, thank you for all you do!  We couldn't do this without you so thank you for coming to work every day and doing what you can to help our kids stay safe, secure, and have a great time in our program.

Have a great weekend everyone and stay warm!

  • Welcome to October! Important Updates

Posted by Nicole Rasmussen on 10/4/2019 1:00:00 PM

    Greetings EdVenture Club Team!

It's sure been a busy fall and hard to believe that it's October already!  We have some important things coming up so please read through this update thoroughly!

    1) DHS Background Studies:  Some of you may be aware that in the fall of 2018 we obtained certification with DHS as a Non-Licensed Child Care Provider.  With that certification comes requirements that we need to follow in order to maintain the certification and continue to provide service to families who receive CCAP.  One very important requirement is a new background study process.  All staff will receive a letter from the district on Monday, October 7th by email with information about the background study and its requirements.  Please watch your district email for this letter and review the information that is included.  We will follow that with additional information as it becomes available.  Thank you for your attention!

    2)  Staffing and Open Shifts:  We are still in the process of hiring staff to fill open shifts at several locations.  We encourage you to share the posting with anyone that you know who is looking for a job:  http://www.isd728.org/JoinOurTeam.  In addition, we are also asking and encouraging you to pick up additional shifts up to 40 hours of work per week.  Please watch the Weebly web page for openings and if you have questions about a shift, please see your Program Liaison.  We thank you in advance for your help!

    3)  Non School Days:  We have two upcoming Non School Days (Thursday, 10/17 and Friday, 10/18).  Per the Employee Benefits Handbook, all staff are required to work their appointed hours on those days or take PTO if you do not plan to work.  If you have questions about your shift, please connect with your site lead or Program Liaison.

    4)  Weather Reminders:  It's that time of year!  Please be sure our students are appropriately dressed for outside time.  It's okay to remind parents to send warm coats, hats, and mittens as we will be going outside weather permitting.  If you aren't sure whether the temperature is okay for outside time please consult with your Program Liaison.  I have heard different things as I've been going around to sites over the past couple of weeks so if you're not sure, feel free to ask.

And lastly, I want to give a HUGE kudos to our Program Liaison team for their hard work and problem solving efforts through the first month of school and as we move forward.  We couldn't do this without you so THANK YOU for all you do and the passion that you bring to this program!

Have a great weekend everyone and stay warm!

Nicole and the Leadership Support Team

We have an AMAZING Liaison team supporting the EdVenture Club program!  I asked them to provide me with a short bio so that you can all get to know them better.  Please take a minute to read more about these ladies!
    Rogers Region Liaison:
    Jill McAlpine
I am the Program Liaison for Rogers, Hassan Edventure club and Rogers DL and Rogers ECFE.   I live in Buffalo with my husband, Brian. I have 2 grown children, 2 grown step children, and 2 grandchildren. I love playing Golf and Darts.  I have been working with children since 1983 and have been employed with the District for 11 years.
    Zimmerman Region Liaison:
    Sarah Reichel
I grew up in Brooklyn Park, MN and I went to University of Wisconsin - River Falls and studied Elementary Education. After graduating I started working in Community Education and never left because of all of the opportunities that it offers both children and staff. I joined ISD 728 in June 2019 as a Program Liaison for the Zimmerman Area.   I married and have 2 sons. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and crocheting.
    Otsego Region Liaison:
    Kris Schaefer
I grew up in Red Wing, MN and lived there my entire life except during my years in college. I went to Winona State University and received my degree in School and Community Health Education focusing on public health/reproductive healthcare. I worked for a few years in healthcare then decided to take on more flexible positions for my kids. I worked at the Red Wing YMCA for years staffing multiple drop in child care rooms and helped start a wrap around daycare program for preschoolers and a before/after school program for school agers called Peach Tree. I have also worked for the last 5 years in elementary schools as a gen ed/special ed para and a MN Reading Corps Kindergarten Literacy Tutor. I moved to Zimmerman in 2017 with my 2 kids, Ellie (13) and Cooper (10). I have been married just over a year to my husband Brodie and have two bonus kids Zeke (11) and Zoie (16). I enjoy reading, napping, organizing and decluttering my tiny house (one bathroom with 6 people!!), spending weekends at the cabin and going to movies.
    Elk River Region Liaison:
    Mariah Albrecht
I am the Elk River Program Liaison and I recently graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor's degree in Sport Management and Marketing. A few fun things about me are that I enjoy reading, I have a puppy named Luna and I have a twin brother. Outside of work I enjoy being around family and friends and intern for a junior league hockey team.
