JANUARY 2020

  • Happy New Year!

We hope you had a fun and relaxing winter break. We are excited for 2020 and continuing on with the school year.  January is the month of making resolutions and setting goals. Consider academic goal setting with your student to help her/him finish as strong as possible during the final weeks of the second quarter; quarter two ends on January 24th.  When making goals, be sure to identify the specifics of the desired outcome, the specific time frame and a plan of action. (e.g. By the end of the second quarter, I plan to improve my current percentage in math by 10% by completing all practice work (including redos), studying 20 minutes nightly and attending math help in the mornings before school, as needed.) As the saying goes, a goal without a plan is just a wish.

Student registration for 2020-21 is nearly completed.  Current 8th graders have already completed their freshman registration.  Most current 6th and 7th grade students have completed their registration on-line.  Keep in mind that the online registration window is December 17th through Tuesday, January 7th.  Thank you for participating in the important process with your student(s).

Please be reminded that there will be no school on Monday, January 20th (M.L.King Day) and Monday, January 27th (teacher workshop).

As always, we are committed to working together with students, parents and staff to make RMS a great place to learn.  Thank you for your partnership!

    Regards,
    Mark J. Huss

RMS Assistant Principal Taped Up for a Cause

Each year, many students and staff at Rogers Middle School participate in the “Gift of Giving” program, led by teacher Faye Johnson.

Over the years, the program has provided for many families throughout the Rogers community, many in various times of need.

Though everyone “wins” through such a charitable program, it’s truly the Rogers Middle School students who get to enjoy the fruits of their labor – particularly thanks to Assistant Principal Bruce Jean.

Over the years, Jean has found himself in various predicaments. He’s kissed a pig, held various animals and even done some “light cleaning” around RMS as a result of Mrs. Johnson’s program.

This year, Mr. Jean found himself in a particularly sticky situation – he was duct taped to the cafeteria wall.

“It’s all in good fun,” said Jean as he dangled from the RMS logo. “The kids really deserve it.”

“He’s a pretty good sport about it,” said Principal Mark Huss. “It’s really a way to get the kids motivated. But our families are so generous. We really thank them for supporting this program.”
