CTE Internships: Employers

  • CTE Internship is a successful strategy to build your talent pool where employers hire high school juniors or seniors for as an intern. The student earns credits toward high school graduation and takes courses related to the profession as a way of enhancing what is being learned on the job. 

    Ready to Hire a High School Student?
    ISD 728 is building partnerships with local businesses to create paid internships for Juniors and Seniors in Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways.

    Positions are part-time, after school (as early as 1:30 pm most days) and weekends. 

    • Pay: Minimum Wage or higher - negotiated with each student
    • Hours: 105 hour per semester minimum 
    • Requirements: Proof of Workers Compensation Insurance, Training & Supervision, Feedback/Evaluations

    Students attend class weekly to talk about Job Retention Skills, Safety, Child Labor Laws and build Employability and Leadership Skills.

    • Submit a job description(s)
    • Interview students we have identified as a match
    • Hire the student(s) of your choice. 
    • Complete paperwork with Work Based Learning Coordinator. 
    • Train and mentor the student following the training plan with quarterly evaluations.
