  • Tuesday, October 6th  -  ACT Plus Writing Test

    • October 6 is designated as a Hybrid B day, all SENIORS who are taking the ACT Plus Writing Test should report on October 6. This includes Hybrid A students as well as any students who are participating in the 100% Distance Learning option.  High school bus routes will run as usual on October 6 for Hybrid A and Hybrid B students. Unfortunately, due to logistical concerns we are not able to offer transportation to our 100% Distance Learners on this day, these students will need to provide their own transportation to and from school.

    • ISD 728 will be having a digital day for students in grades 9, 10, and 11 at Elk River High School, Rogers High School, Zimmerman High School, and Ivan Sand Community High School on October 6. Students who have a digital day will not report to school.  Instead, they will be provided with electronic assignments to complete at home on October 6 and teachers will be available at specified times during the day for support.

    Covid-19 Updates

Please evaluate your child daily for Covid symptoms before sending them to school by using the School Self-Screening Checklist

Common key terms related to Covid:

Close contact:  Close contact means being within 6 feet of another person for 15 minutes or more.  In the context of Covid-19, a close contact exposure means that a person either lives with or was within 6 feet or more of someone with lab-confirmed Covid-19 for 15 minutes or longer while the person was infectious (regardless of whether either person wore a cloth face covering or face shield).

Isolation:  Isolation is an infection prevention tool for a person who has tested positive for Covid-19, and requires the person to stay away from others, even those living in the same home.  For Covid-19, the isolation period is at least 10 days from the start of symptoms or test date if the person does not have symptoms, 24 hours without fever, and improvement of symptoms.

Quarantine:  Quarantine is an infection prevention tool for a person who was in close contact with someone who has or is suspected to have Covid-19, and requires the person to stay away from others for 14 days.  The quarantine period does not change with a negative test result since an infection could still develop after getting tested.  Quarantine lasts for 14 days because Covid-19 has an incubation period that is between two to 14 days long.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

Q:  If my child has 2 of the less common symptoms listed on the School Self-Screening Checklist and my child has to be home for 10 days, do their siblings also need to stay home?

A:  Yes, siblings need to stay home for 14 days or until your ill child receives a negative Covid test or an alternative diagnosis.

Q:  If my child is diagnosed with Strep but they are also tested for Covid, can they return to school?

A:  No, if they are tested for Covid, they have to receive a negative test result before they can return to school.

Q:  If my child is a close contact of a confirmed positive Covid case, do they need to stay home?

A:  Yes, that child needs to stay home for 14 days, but that child’s siblings do not have to stay home.

  • Free Meals Returning for ISD 728 Students

Starting Wednesday, September 16, 2020:  ISD 728 has qualified for an extension of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Minnesota Department of Education’s free meal program for all currently enrolled ISD 728 students. This free meal service offers breakfast and lunch daily.  Please note: alternative meals to accomodate dietary restrictions are available upon request.

In other words - Grab-n-Go is BACK!

The USDA has extended this waiver to assist school districts and households in feeding kids. This benefit has been extended until Federal funds are no longer available. Once the waiver ends, all students will automatically be returned back to their normal lunch status. We will inform households when this will happen as soon as we are notified. This USDA sponsored free meal program is for all currently enrolled ISD 728 students regardless of whether they are participating in face to face, hybrid or distance learning models.

    Advanced Placement Exam Registration 2020-2021

This year’s AP Exams will be held from May 3-17, 2021. Because of a slight increase to the College Board’s exam fees and a slight decrease in the subsidy from the State of Minnesota, this year’s AP Exams will cost $60. Students must register by October 26, 2020 to avoid incurring an additional $40 Late Fee. (Except for AP Macroeconomics, which meets only spring semester and has a final registration date of March 1, 2021.) The $40 Unused Exam Fee has been waived this year, which means that students who register before October 26 can get back their entire $60 exam fee for exams cancelled before March 1.

There are two steps to AP registration:

    1. Students complete the first registration step by creating a College Board account online and enroll in the course related to the test that they wish to take. Most students have already completed this step with their teacher.
    2. Students complete the second registration step in one of two ways: by paying the fees assigned on Revtrak, or by having these fees waived by contacting Jessica Zoubek (jessica.zoubek@isd728.org) in the office and notifying her of eligibility for free/reduced lunch or completing the paperwork to obtain eligibility.

At this point in time, College Board has plans for in-school exams with a contingency testing option, if “safety concerns still prohibit any students from testing at a school”. See College Board’s website for more information.

Students with an IEP or 504 Plan will be contacted by their case manager in January to request any necessary testing accommodations.  Please contact Anne Bartus (anne.bartus@isd728.org), SSD Coordinator, with any questions.

Questions about registering for an AP Exam? Please email the AP Coordinator, Shane Noecker (shane.noecker@isd728.org).

  • Out of Storage Space? Let the RHS Construction students help you!

     Sheds for sale

Purchase the shed material from the local home improvement store of choice and let the RHS Construction program erect the building.  To meet curriculum requirements, shed dimensions are 8' wide x 12' deep or 10' wide x 12' deep.  Both have 8' high walls that offer over 750 cubic feet of storage space.  Each shed includes a 36" x 36" vinyl-clad window and a 6' x 7' steel roll-up garage door providing ample light and a door large enough for your riding lawn mower, patio furniture, and other seasonal items.  Textured, pre-primed LP SmartSide, and cedar trim allow the owner to paint or stain using your chosen color. The owner selects the color of architectural roof shingles and other finish/material options available. New shed construction will begin in early February 2021 at the start of the Construction course.
For more information or to reserve your spot, contact jessica.zoubek@isd728.org or dirk.udee@isd728.org.
