Financing & Tax Info

When it comes to financing large projects that can shape school districts for years to come, Minnesota's financing methods often require a district to turn to the taxpayers for a referendum. Simply put, state funding mechanisms are available for small projects from classroom additions to new roofs - but when it comes to building completely new campuses for all students, districts must "bond to build," borrowing money to construct new schools.

To estimate how much that will cost, and to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, ISD 728 works with independent financial advisor Ehlers to map out cost, interest and impact. Ehlers works with our finance team to pour over data, analyze current costs and estimated future costs, and then create a report for potential impact on a homeowner, farmstead or business property within ISD 728.
