How to Cast Your Vote 

To cast your ballot in the 2026 ISD 728 Referendum, you must vote in the 2026 General Election, often referred to as the "Midterm Election."

This can be done in multiple ways:

  • You can vote on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in person at your local poll on Election Day. 
  • Residents may also vote early, in person at locations around ISD 728, including county offices and city halls. Early "in person" voting at these locations will start Friday, October 16 and run through Monday, November 2, or the day before Election Day. This process allows voters to vote prior to Election Day but still submit their ballot into a vote counting machine. 
  • You may also vote absentee either in person or by mail. This process allows you to get a ballot and submit it as early as Friday, September 18. You will be able to track any mail-in ballot via the Minnesota Secretary of State's Website. Ballots must, by law, be RECEIVED by Tuesday, November 3.

Where do I vote? 

Whether you are voting early or on Election Day, the Pollfinder on the Minnesota Secretary of State website allows you to find your precinct or early voting location. The pollfinder also will tell you rules for your polling place and things to do if require assistance casting your ballot. 

Register to Vote

Minnesota voters can check their voter registration online, register to vote in the next election online, or find information about voting and registering on Election Day at the state's website. You can also double check if your registration is active and/or up to date if you have moved since the last time you cast a ballot.

There are requirements for "same day" registration. Please check this website for that information.
