ISD 728 School Board candidate Shari Knip officially notified District officials on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 of her decision to withdraw from the school board election recount process. This was following the first day of the recount involving the counting of ballots in Sherburne County precincts.

The ISD 728 School District had initiated the recount for one of the three at-large seats from the ISD 728 School Board General Election, which took place on November 5, 2024. With Ms. Knip’s withdrawal, Shane Steinbrecher has been declared the elected candidate for the final open seat on the ISD 728 School Board.

Steinbrecher, a former school board chair in the district, will join newly elected school board members Mike Nordos and Monica Madsen in serving the ISD 728 community. All three will be sworn in at the ISD 728 School Board Meeting scheduled for Monday, January 13, 2025.

ISD 728 thanks all candidates who participated in this election and looks forward to working with the new board members as they take office to support the students, staff, and families of the district.
