Lisa Johnson New Thunder AD, Hilyar Joins ERHS Admin Team

Zimmerman Middle High School would like to announce that the school's new Activities Director (AD) is none other than Lisa Johnson! She has been serving ZMHS as an Assistant Principal for the last 11 years.

Johnson replaces longtime AD Jaime Hilyar, who is joining the administrative team at Elk River High as an assistant principal.

“I’m ecstatic to come full circle and return to the job which started my administrative career,” Johnson said. “It’s even better to move into this position and still remain with my Thunder family.”

After earning her master’s degree in Athletic Administration, Johnson interned at Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, as the Assistant Athletic Director. When she and her husband moved back to Minnesota in the early 2000's, she served at Mounds View High School as the Activities Director. After three years, she was lured to Monticello High School where she helped to form the Mississippi 8 Conference, of which ZHS is now a member. In addition to her duties at Monticello High School, she served on the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) AD Advisory Committee and assisted in running the Adapted Athletics State Tournaments.

While serving as Assistant Principal for Zimmerman Middle High School, she was asked to serve on the first ever MSHSL Principal Advisory Committee because of her track record as a successful AD, and now in the role as an AP.

“We are excited and proud to have her change roles and use her wealth of experience to help maintain the success of Thunder Activities,” said ZHS/ZMS Principal Marco Voce.
