2024 School Board Committees

The ISD 728 School Board completes an annual evaluation for the Superintendent.  The evaluation focuses on superintendent competencies and the completion of goals negotiated between the Superintendent and the School Board.  A committee of the Board meets quarterly to review goal progress and report their findings to the entire Board.

This Committee meets monthly to review referendum projects, including progress being made and whether the projects are on schedule and within the budget parameters.  They review bid schedules, city partnerships, long-term facility maintenance projects across the district, and to ensure that promises made throughout the referendum campaign are being met and remain the priority.  Membership includes two School Board members, Superintendent, Executive Director of Business Services, Director of Finance, Manager of Facilities, and representatives from Wold Architects.

As ISD 728 is a member of the Minnesota State High School League, we are required to designate two representatives who are authorized to vote for the member school at all district, region and section meetings and on mail ballots where member schools are called upon to vote, such as district meetings, region meetings, and mail ballots.  One of the designated representatives shall be a member of the school's governing board and the other shall be an administrator or full-time faculty member of the member school.  In school districts such as ISD 728 where we have three traditional high schools, the designated representative from the school district's governing body may represent more than one school and is entitled to one vote for each school they represent.  These meetings occur sporadically and are not necessarily at the same time each month and/or quarter.

Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD) is a collaborative of seven school districts in the northwest metro.  Students are eligible to apply to any of the magnet schools if they live within the school districts of ISD 728, Anoka-Hennepin, Brooklyn Center, Buffalo-Montrose-Hanover, Fridley, Osseo and Rockford.  The Joint Powers Board (JPB) makes decisions and sets policies for the care and management over the programs and activities in the school district.  The JPB's authority includes implied and specific powers granted by the legislature.  The membership of the JPB is made up of one school board member from each of the member districts.  In addition, the NWSISD Executive Director serves as an ex-officio member, and an at-large representative is a member district superintendent who will be attend on a rotating basis.  This group meets monthly, in the evening, which typically includes a virtual option.

The mission of AMSD is to advocate for member school districts so they can lead the transformation of public education.  AMSD believes that public education is a foundation in Minnesota's future prosperity; public education must be non-partisan and the highest priority of state government; state education policy and resource allocation must recognize and support the unique needs of member districts; the collective and consistent voice of member districts is critical to achieving our mission; Minnesota's education system is unjust and inequitable and does not provide sufficient resources to ensure all students thrive.  In existence since 1974, AMSD currently represents 46 K-12 school districts and six intermediate/educational cooperative districts.  The Board of Directors, comprised of the superintendent and one school board member from each of the member school districts, governs the association.  These meetings occur monthly, are on Friday mornings, and typically have an in person and virtual option.
