Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS)

What is ADSIS   
Alternative Delivery of Specialized Instructional Services (ADSIS) is an annual application process for districts and charter schools to apply for state special education aid. The purpose of ADSIS is to provide instruction to assist students who need additional academic or behavioral support to succeed in the general education environment.
 

Why do we have ADSIS?  

• After exploration with the RtI/Effective School committee, a collaborative group of administrators and teachers researched ways to best meet student needs. In visiting other districts, we learned that a common thread in the supporting students was the implementation of RtI best practices with funding through ADSIS. After a year of study, a grant was written and approved.  

• ADSIS is one way to align the district’s work with Professional Learning Communities, Effective Schools, Response to Intervention and data analysis. 

• ADSIS Intervention Specialists at the building and district level will assist staff and students in helping to provide Tier 2 and 3 interventions through professional development and student assistance.
   

What are the priority goals with ADSIS?  

• Reduce the number of referrals to special education by providing supports early to struggling students
• Align the ADSIS program within their existing continuum of supports
• Collect data as specified in the application
• Submit evaluation information to MDE each year to determine program impact
• ADSIS goals must be included in the building SAP Plan
