Safe & Responsible Use

All of ISD 728 instructional resources are goverened by the ISD 728 Internet Acceptance Use and Safety Policy.  Listed below are a few key resources to help keep you informed in order to navigate our digital resources safe and responsibly.

Student Handbook GuidelinesContained in the Student Handbook, the Network Responsible Use Guidelines outline the safe and responsible use guidelines for all students.

Content Filter: Under the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), school districts are required to use Internet filters and implement other measures to protect children from harmful online content when using school computers. The district has licensed commercial internet filtering packages, GoGuardian and FortiGate, to meet the CIPA requirement for student protection.

  • Visit ISD 728 Web Filtering & Limited Internet Access for information on what content is not allowed and further limiting student access.

  • Visit GoGuardain Parent App for information on how parents and guardians can monitor their grade 3-12 children's chromebook browsing activity, as well as adjust filtering and internet access when out of school hours.

Parent/Guardian Permissions: During initial registration with the school district, parents choose whether or not to give permission for the following: Student use of Internet & school technology, displaying schoolwork in school & on school website, allowing student pictures to be taken and displayed at school or on the school website, publishing stuent's name and picture in local newspapers. These permissions are kept on file and shared with the student's teachers. Parents can view current permissions in the Campus Parent Portal under More > Permissions, and request changes by contacting the school office.

Google G Suite Education Account: A student’s K-12 experience has a profound impact on their future. Google for Education shareable devices and collaborative tools help teachers prepare all students with new, more engaging ways to learn the skills they need to succeed. Google offers G Suite for Education to schools as a hosted solution for classroom productivity apps with integrated communication, collaboration and security. To learn more, see G Suite for K-12 Institutions. ISD 728’s agreement with Google provides safeguards and privacy policies that put the district in control of our student’s data connected to Google.
