What is Online728?
Online728 is a comprehensive online public K-12 school sponsored by the Elk River School District. Online728 offers a high quality virtual learning experience for a wide variety of students including those who are seeking flexibility in their schedules and individualized support for learning. All courses are facilitated by licensed Minnesota teachers and meet all Minnesota state standards.
Is Online728 the same as distance learning?
No. Similar to distance learning, Online728 offers a learning experience that is flexible and completely remote. Students will have the opportunity to engage with teachers face-to-face and will receive direct instruction through Schoology/Seesaw and video conferencing using Google Meet. However, teachers are assigned to Online728 exclusively and are not working simultaneously with blended or face-to-face learners providing a more personalized approach than distance learning.
Can my student still participate in extracurricular activities and sports?
Yes. Students will work with their district designated assigned school for all extracurricular activities including sports. Please note that extracurricular activities may not be offered in an online format.
Will students be expected to attend school during school hours?
Best practice is for students to follow the traditional school schedule to establish a routine and meet the schedule of availability for staff. Online728 offers flexible schedules for students and families with curriculum available through Schoology/Seesaw as learners can access instruction from anywhere at any time. The district also recognizes through our experiences with distance learning that students benefit from an opportunity to interact and engage with their peers and teacher. For this reason, Online728 courses will have required attendance components around virtual meetings and completion of coursework by teacher assigned due dates. Scheduling specifics will be provided prior to the start of the school year.
Are students expected to “check-in” to InfiniteCampus each day for attendance?
