Volunteer728

  • The ISD 728 mission is to educate, inspire & empower our diverse learners, to shape their futures, to accomplish their dreams and to contribute positively to our local and global communities. As future leaders and citizens, our students have a deep commitment to giving back to our local and global communities. In recognition of this service, ISD 728 is now enrolled as a certifying agent for the United States President's Volunteer Service Award program, which is designed to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to serve.

    Who can participate?

Students, parents, and volunteers within the ISD 728 communities.

    What are the requirements?

Volunteers maintain a record of their service hours online or on paper from September 1 through August 31 of the Award Year. They submit a printed copy of their hours, verified by a parent or supervisor along with a PVSA Application prior to the deadline in early September. Based on your age and hours, there are four awards offered:

  • President's Lifetime Award

President's Lifetime Achievement Award: Individuals who have completed 4,000 or more hours in their lifetime.

    How to get started

    1. Create a Record of Service at www.presidentialserviceawards.gov.
      • Click on "Get Involved" and go to "Volunteers".
      • Once there, click on Register and complete the form.
      • If you are under 14 years of age, you will need an adult to set up the account with in your name.
    2. After setting up an account, go to "My Profile"
      • Add the ZHS Service Key: VSA-9143
      • This key ensures that you are recognized by ZHS for your volunteer service.
      • Applications are not valid without this code.
    3. To record your service hours, log into your account and go to ''My Service".
      • Click on "Add Activity" and enter the information.
        • Please note: All service hours must be verified by the organization where service is performed or by a parent or adult It supervisor.
        • If you track your hours online you will download them to an Excel spreadsheet and submit them with your application in the fall.
        • At that time a parent or supervisor can sign the spreadsheet to verify your hours.
        • You can also track your hours on a paper tracking sheet and have them signed by a parent or supervisor each time you volunteer.
