This is my third year teaching in the Elk River School District, and 6th year teaching overall. Prior to Prairie View Elementary and Middle School, I taught at Lincoln Elementary and Handke Family Center.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Developmental Disabilities from St. Cloud State University. In 2016 I earned a Masters Degree in Special Education, Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I am grateful to serve students and families of ISD 728!

Hobbies/Interests: crafting, HGTV, MN summers at the lake, and spending time with family and friends.

This is my 9th year teaching in the Elk River School District.  Prior to Prairie View, I taught at Rogers Elementary and in the Journey Program at Meadowvale Elementary. Before I became a teacher I worked in adult and juvenile corrections.  
 
Hobbies: I like to spend time running, reading books, biking and spending time with my family. I love to watch/attend sporting events for any sport, especially events for the Minnesota Gophers.

I grew up in Dickinson, ND and graduated from Dickinson Trinity High School. I got my undergraduate degree and Master's Degree from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. I worked in home-based speech therapy in 1992. Next, I was employed with private rehabilitation companies for three years. I worked with preschoolers and developmentally disabled adults during that time. In 1996, I started work in the Elk River Schools split between Meadowvale and Otsego Elementary. I have worked as a speech/language pathologist in the district for the past 22 years in a variety of elementary schools. I have two beautiful children, Connor (age 22) and McKenzie (age 19). 
 
Hobbies/Fun Facts: I love running, yoga, reading, traveling, paddle boarding, time at my parent's lake cabin, making Shutterfly photo books, and hanging out with family/friends.

I grew up in a small town in North Dakota and moved to the Albertville area about 10 years ago.  My husband and I have a 2nd grade daughter, a preschool son and 2 dogs who all keep us busy and having fun!  I started teaching Special Education in the Elk River District schools in 2007 and feel very thankful to work with such an amazing group of educators, staff and students who teach me something new and make me smile every day! I have a passion for working with students to help them build confidence and grow in their learning.
 
Hobbies/Fun Facts: I enjoy spending time with my family, decorating, gardening, cooking, watching movies, golfing, shopping, eating Italian food and desserts!:)

I have been an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing in District #728 since 2006. I support all of the schools in Rogers and Otsego (southern cluster) and will provide support in Elk River as needed. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State University in Elementary Education as well as a Master of Education degree from the University of Minnesota--Twin Cities with an emphasis in deaf education. I have also passed the Sign Language Proficiency Interview, which is a way to assess a person’s skills using natural sign language for communication (function) and it provides an analysis of a person’s sign language vocabulary, production, fluency, grammar, and comprehension skills (form).

 
Hobbies: I enjoy photography, traveling, gardening, birdwatching, the great outdoors, reading, watching movies, Minnesota Lynx basketball, and Minnesota Twins baseball. I love animals and have two furry felines to keep me entertained, Quinnie and Mollie.

I live in Rogers with my husband, our three daughters (5th grade, 4th grade, & Preschool), and our 2-year-old Goldendoodle.  I was a special education teacher to students in grades K-6 at Maple Lake Elementary and I completed special education evaluations for students in grades K-12.  I also taught 2nd grade for a year in sunny Ft. Myers, FL.  I am so excited to be part of the Prairie View team!    

Hobbies/Fun Facts?:  In the summer you can find me wherever there is water (pool, lake, or ocean).  I love 90s alternative rock, I like to read, and I enjoy home improvement projects with my husband.

Occupational Therapist

I have been with ISD 728 since 1998.  I am an Occupational Therapist serving schools in Elk River and all the schools in the southern part of our district.  I have three grown daughters, who attended Elk River schools.  I also have two great son-in-laws and a beautiful granddaughter.  My husband and I recently sold our family home and built a home in Dayton.  

In my spare time, I enjoy doing anything and everything with my family.  I also enjoy my time with friends and I am a big sports fan.

Speeh and Language Pathologist

I am very happy to be at PVEMS!  I worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist at other schools for the first 10 years of my career.  I worked at a private speech and language clinic for 7 years prior to coming to the Elk River School District.  I have a bachelor's degree in health education from Augsburg College, a master's degree in communication disorders from the University of Minnesota, and I am certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.  I love working with kids and their parents.  
 
My favorite things to do are taking walks and going out to eat at new restaurants with my family and friends (especially if the restaurant has an outdoor patio or rooftop).  I also love to go roller skating.  I live with my husband and our 11 year-old twins.

Hello, my name is Krystal Van Norman. I grew up in Elk River and excited to be back in the district, this time as a teacher! I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth. I’m very excited to be a part of the teaching staff at Prairie View Elementary/Middle school!

Hobbies: I love the outdoors; fishing, biking and summers spent on the lake. Spending times with family and friends and watching hockey.
