ERHS Field Trip to Exploring Potential Interests & Careers (EPIC)
St. Cloud State Technical and Community College
On Friday, February 22, 2019, more than 2,500 students from over 20 schools will gather on the campus of St. Cloud Technical and Community College in St. Cloud to participate in EPIC (Exploring Potential Careers & Interests), the first ever large-scale career exploration event for high school students in Central Minnesota. Elk River High School is proud to be a part of this event.
This event is designed to effectively bridge the gap between education and industry for high school students in Central Minnesota, contributing to the fulfillment of the economic and workforce needs of the area. The unique format of the event allows students to participate in hands-on, interactive experiences that simulate activities from a variety of careers. Students will also learn the educational requirements and potential job market forecast of each career.
The event will be setup according to the MN Career Fields, Clusters & Pathways wheel and students should visit their first Career Field choice. ERHS will have a required Elk Time on 2/21 to help them better understand what this means. Six career clusters will be showcased, including: Human Services; Health, Science & Technology; Engineering, Manufacturing & Technology; Arts, Communications & Information Systems; Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; and Business, Management & Administration.
Interested 10th and 11th grade students must complete this short form indicating their interest and return a signed parent permission form found in the counseling office by 2/12. By filling out this form, it is your firm commitment to attend. Space is limited to 100 students. Students will also be required to attend an Elk Time on 2/21 to complete a short career survey and activity.
