  • As principal of Prairie View Middle School, I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you and your students during their middle school years. It is my honor to be the principal at PVMS serving the staff, students, parents and the school community.  Our dedicated staff of professionals work diligently to serve over 800 students in grades 5-8.

The middle school years are a tremendous opportunity for a student to grow as an individual, as well as a collective body of learners. As students face new challenges, they will need to work collaboratively with peers, take responsibility for their choices, learn new concepts, and problem solve unique real world situations. At Prairie View Middle School, we are committed to educate, inspire and empower our diverse learners to shape their futures, accomplish their dreams and contribute positively to our local and global communities.  It is the daily work of our entire staff to make this mission become a reality in the lives of our students.

The middle school experience is a time of critical growth on the journey to success in high school and life after graduation.  College and career readiness are a major focus during the middle school experience. Prairie View Middle School offers a core curriculum in the areas of English, Math, Social Studies and Science, as well as the areas of Art, Computer Coding, Industrial Technology, World Language, Health, Family and Consumer Science and Physical Education.  Although some courses specifically have a technology focus, we support the purposeful use of technology in all courses.

Our expert staff work in collaboration to create a learning environment that is safe, supportive and welcoming for all learners, that aligns with the needs of the early adolescent, and focuses on academic and personal success.  Prairie View Middle School is pleased to offer an AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) program to our learners and we are a PBIS (Positive Behavior and Intervention Systems) School.

Thank you for your ongoing interest in your child’s education and the success of Prairie View Middle School.  It is my hope that you will find our website a valuable resource.  Please feel free to contact me to share any questions, concerns or celebrations regarding your student.  I look forward to getting to know the students of Prairie View Middle School and their families. I welcome conversations about how we can ensure your student finds success within our school community. I can be reached by phone (763-274-6261) or email (julie.athman@isd728.org).
