Welcome to Online728 Elementary and Middle School

Hello Online728 Families -

We are very excited to welcome you to our Online728 Elementary and Middle School programs. Online728 has served the ISD 728 community with high school classes for the last 7 years. With the shift in learning models during the pandemic, we are happy to now offer a fully online program as an education option for our families. We are excited to announce that Online728 is an approved online provider through the Minnesota Department of Education and utilizes our licensed ISD 728 teaching staff.

Online728 Elementary and Middle Schools are a program created to meet the diverse needs of our families and students. We understand that each learner is unique. Following ISD 728's strategic plan strategy of cultivating an innovative environment, we are meeting the needs of our diverse learners and preparing them for their future. Online learning experiences will shape digital citizens and prepare each student for college and career readiness in a technology driven world.

We cannot wait to "see" you all this fall!

Online728 Elementary Program Overview

Online728 Elementary focuses on a student-centered learning approach to meet students where they are at in their educational journey. Students will experience a variety of instruction in large and small groups, as well as have the flexibility to work one-on-one with teachers. Online728 Elementary students will have one designated homeroom teacher, but will also work with all of our K-5 teachers in core subject areas of Math, Literacy, Science, and Social Studies.

In our learner-centered environment, students will have opportunities to engage in personalized learning experiences allowing students to collaboratively interact with peers of different ages. Teachers are individualizing instruction for each student to ensure that they are learning at their own level. This means that all students will participate in large group meetings, and will also have small groups and 1:1 instruction to target specific skills and standards. Flexible, multi-age grouping will allow for differentiated instruction based on student need. Teachers will engage students with meaningful hands-on experiences and opportunities for project-based learning. Students will also receive instruction from specialist teachers in Music, Art, and Physical Education. Online education is a collaborative effort between students, families and staff to ensure student success. Through interacting with multiple teachers, students are provided the opportunity to build relationships and social skills along their educational journey.

Online728 Middle School Program Overview

Online728 Middle School provides students with a daily structure similar to the face-to-face middle school experience. Students will participate in a 30-minute live Advisory each morning with their Advisory teacher focused on community building and social-emotional learning. Students will then follow a 50-minute block schedule rotating between their designated courses. These courses will provide a blend of live classroom instruction (synchronous learning) and independent work (asynchronous learning). Online728 teachers will establish and communicate specific live meeting times with students at the start of the school year.

All Online728 Middle School students will be enrolled in core subject areas of Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. Additionally, students will receive courses in Art (grades 6-8), Music (6th and 8th grade), Physical Education (grades 6-8), and Health (7th grade). The current offered courses for middle school students meets the required academic standards for Minnesota. The inclusion of additional choice courses in the areas of allied arts is a goal the program will pursue as it continues to develop and grow beyond our first year.
