Cool Job Tours for ISD 728 Students
Local businesses will open their doors on April 30 and May 2 to students, parents, and community members. The goal is to increase awareness of a variety of opportunities and careers available with multiple entry points and education options for students to explore. Business will also share the purpose of different careers and how the work affects the community.
Healthcare Pathways (April 30, 2019)
Activities will begin at 5:45 pm with a light meal hosted by Guardian Angels at Riverview Landing in Otsego. Following a brief presentation, participants will choose to tour any two of the following companies: Guardian Angels, Collyard Chiropractic, North Memorial Clinic and North Memorial Ambulance, Elk Plaza Dental, Lift PT According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics the employment of healthcare occupations are projected to grow 18% from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 2.4 million new jobs. Healthcare occupations are projected to add more jobs than any of the other occupational groups. This projected growth is mainly due to an aging population. In healthcare, your career choices are abundant with varying levels of education ranging from a high school diploma to an associate's, bachelor's, masters, or professional degree.

Transportation Pathways (May, 2, 2019)
Activities will begin at 5:45 pm with a light meal hosted by Plaisted Companies. Following a brief presentation, participants will choose to tour any two of the following Companies: Beaudry Oil & Propane, Abra Auto Body Repair GATR, Morrell, Plaisted Companies, Cornerstone.
What’s a good route to a career with high wages? Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest that working in some transportation occupations might help you reach that destination. Employment of transportation and material moving occupations is projected to grow 6% from 2016 to 2026, adding 634,300 new jobs nationwide.
