Understanding Financial Aid and FAFSA

Financial Aid Night at Rogers High School
November 29, 6:00 - 7:00 pm
RHS Media Center

Basic Information

  • In order to receive financial aid, you must apply for it specifically.  Applying for admission to a school is a separate process.
  • Procedures may vary from school to school, so be sure to check with the financial aid department at the school you plan to attend.
  • For most types of aid, you will need to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  By using the FAFSA, you can apply for Minnesota State Grants, Federal Pell Grants, Direct Loans, and some college awards.

FAFSA On The Web
Using FAFSA on the Web ( is faster and easier than using paper. FAFSA on the web is the preferred format.  If you don’t have Internet access, you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-877-4-ED-PUBS (1-877-433-7827) or pick a form up in the Guidance Office (forms become available in October).
