Clarification Regarding the Distance Learning Survey

Thank you for your continued engagement and support as we work to navigate the COVID-19 Pandemic together. This communication is intended to provide some additional details about the Distance Learning Survey and the timelines for parent/guardian decisions.

The initial survey was meant to find out who wanted distance learning regardless of whether other options were available. I could and should have communicated that better and differently. Having information about each of the models before making a decision is a reasonable request and thus will happen for all families. I appreciate the feedback given and remain committed to engaging and supporting our families to the best of our ability.

Some details about the various models, as well as other important topics related to COVID 19, are available on the FAQ tab at Specific and final instructional model details will be available and communicated during the week of August 17, 2020 once we have more information.

Again, parents/guardians will have the opportunity to indicate their preference after the details are provided.

Below are some frequently asked questions related to the survey:

Will I be able to select the Distance Learning Model after the August 9 deadline and after I know more of the details regarding the other models?

Yes. Parents will be given the opportunity to select Distance Learning after information about the various models are released the Week of August 17.

If I don’t want to commit to Distance Learning until I know what the District models look like, what do I do?

Wait. If you are not ready to commit to Distance Learning, we would recommend you wait and not complete the survey. Once the details for each instructional model are finalized and communicated, families will have the opportunity to make a final informed decision.

If you have already completed the survey at this time, don’t worry.  The form is able to be edited after completion. If you revisit the link from the same browser and device used in your previous submission you will be able to edit your answers to resubmit.

If I select Distance Learning now but hear on August 21 that the building is using a Hybrid Model, can we switch back?

Yes, however, we would prefer you not select Distance Learning unless you are sure you want it, as parent choice will impact initial staffing, transportation, and food service decisions. Once the details for each instructional model are finalized and communicated, families will have the opportunity to make an informed decision.

Again, thank you for being part of ISD 728, we appreciate your involvement and patience as we work to provide the very best options for our children and families.
