It is hard to believe that we are half way through the year and we are already planning tirelessly for graduations, summer school, and the 2018-2019 school year. It seems like yesterday when our children were gathering their school supplies, starting their fall activities, and meeting their teachers and staff for the first time.
Various holidays, school events, homework, concerts, and everyday life can make this time of year both hectic and tiring. However, it can also be an exhilarating time in which we can celebrate, reflect, and embrace the tremendous accomplishments our children, schools, district and communities have achieved. While it is easy to get overwhelmed, and often difficult to find time for ourselves and our families, we must remember how fast this time goes and how important it is to be “present” in the lives of our children.
As a Board member, I continue to be reminded of the amazing students we have within our school district, and of the tremendous support provided by our families and community members. I do not take these things for granted and am continuously humbled and inspired by them. While I often hear feedback from adults throughout the community, the Superintendent and Board recently received some advice from some of our youngest learners. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did:
Let us play and be kids
Take time to listen
Be interested in me and what I do outside of school
Be happy, smile
Try new things
Make sure I get food at school
Give me choices
Make learning fun
Tell me and show me you care about me
And of course...Call more snow days.
Let’s take time to enjoy our kids and to be courageous learners. Thank you for being part of ISD 728.
