Message from the Superintendent: 2020-2021 Back to School Plan

ISD 728 Families, Students and Staff:

Independent School District 728 is excited to enter the 2020-2021 academic year with a back to school plan that will deliver on our District’s mission and vision to educate, inspire and empower our more than 14,000 students.

The plan, available at, provides information about the three state mandated instructional models (i.e. face-to-face, hybrid, distance learning), as well as details of the 100% Distance Learning Option our district has been developing since the COVID-19 pandemic impacted our students, families and staff last spring.

These three learning models, as well as the District’s 100% Distance Learning Option, have been designed to keep safety as our top priority for all, to deliver on our state-leading academic achievement, to honor student, family, and staff feedback and choice, and to provide as much flexibility as possible.

We fully expect to utilize all of these models throughout the year and will base future decisions on local data, as well as guidance from the Department of Education and Department of Health. As of this communication, we anticipate that the school year will start with Early Childhood and Elementary students attending everyday face-to-face and Middle and High School students attending in our Hybrid model.

On August 21, 2020, the official learning model to start the 2020-2021 school year will be announced.

If you have any questions, please use the contact information outlined in the document at any time. We appreciate your support of ISD 728, and we look forward to achieving many great things together this school year.

Dr. Daniel Bittman
ISD 728 Superintendent
