UPDATE: District Heeds State Health Department Guidance on Coronavirus

In the spirit of our School District mission, we want to continue to provide you with information about our procedures and processes related to COVID-19 or “Coronavirus” with a second weekly update.

An expanding outbreak of COVID-19 is being experienced in many regions around the world. This is an emerging, rapidly evolving situation that will undoubtedly have implications for many Minnesota communities in the coming days and weeks, including our own. As a result, ISD 728 Administration is highly involved in planning to prepare for the potential of an outbreak of COVID-19.

ISD 728 continues to work closely with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) as we prepare for what, if any, impact the virus might have on our schools. These two state agencies, in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), take the lead on decisions regarding school closures or other impact on schools that could result from outbreaks of contagious conditions, while monitoring local and national health concerns.

We continue to follow the same policy and guidance as we would with other flu and virus outbreaks - we are encouraging those who are ill to stay home, everyone to cover their cough, and all to use good handwashing techniques.

The CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health have additional information for those who are interested in learning more.

School safety remains our top concern, and we will continue to make that a priority as we confront this particular challenge.
