Salk Students Sweep MathCounts Regional

Four students from Salk Middle School swept all three events at the MATHCOUNTS Foundation Lake Region Chapter math competition February 11 at St. Cloud State University. The Salk team won the Team, Individual, and Countdown round competitions.

Team members include Chris Dehmer (grade 8), Isaac Sydow (grade 8), Owen Westberg (grade 7) and Henry Boese (grade 6). Salk math teacher Scott Lillestrand is the team’s coach/advisor.

They will now compete in the MATHCOUNTS Minnesota State competition March 13-14 in Plymouth, MN.

Team Result - 1st Place

Top 16 - Countdown Round Competition: All four team members finished in the top 16 and advanced to the Countdown round of competition where they competed in the single elimination event of head-to-head competition.
